The Economic Regulation Authority (Authority) is independent of direction or control by the State or any Minister or officer of the State in performing its functions.  However, under sections 28(2) and 28(3) of the Economic Regulation Authority Act 2003, the relevant Minister may give directions in writing to the Authority on administration and financial administration matters.

In this context, the relevant Minister is the Hon Troy Buswell BEc MLA; Treasurer of Western Australia.
