Chief Executive Officer
The Governing Body of the Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) seeks to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to succeed the retiring CEO. As the economic regulator for WA, the ERA regulates monopoly aspects of the gas, electricity and rail industries. It licences providers of gas, electricity and water services and conducts inquiries referred by the State Government. The Authority’s functions are designed to maintain a competitive, efficient and fair commercial environment for the benefit of the WA community. It strives to promote fair prices, quality services and choice.
The position of CEO is an intellectually challenging and multi-faceted role requiring a strategic leader who is capable of working effectively with the Governing Body, managing the agency and contributing at a whole of Government level on cross-sectoral policies, strategies and programs.
Intending applicants should possess all of the competencies associated with a CEO position of this nature, together with experience in managing policy and planning strategies at a very senior level, including advising Ministers. You should have a sound knowledge of economic, financial, legal and technical matters relevant to economic regulation, particularly as it applies to essential utility services. A knowledge of the economic and social environment in WA and an understanding of the macro level policy issues affecting Government is preferred.
